Levelling the training playing field
In November 1997 the federation of heating spares stockists the UK’s largest group of independent
specialist heating spares stockists, was invited to a meeting with one of the UK’s largest training
groups with centres throughout Great Britain.
The initial enquiry was to discuss the supply of spare parts for the numerous test appliances
installed at training centres.
At the meeting the Federation identified the need for a more uniform standardised test and
assessment, possibly in the form of a test rig.
On the strength of this along with the assistance of an ex British Gas training officer and
industrial/commercial DCO we designed the rigs you see in these pages all manufactured to meet
the criteria laid down by the assessment body UKAS
Their design will show the operation of many different appliances without the need for expensive
commercial appliances, 3 phase electric large gas supplies or steam sources.
